The mascot launching ceremony of Dubai Expo 2020 was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on 26. The mascots include two UAE children, three flying robots and a ghaf tree, UAE's national tree.The organizers introduced the mascots to the audience by playing a string of video clips. Rashid, a 9-year-old boy, and Latifa, an 8-year-old girl, are brother and sister, representing the UAE people. The three robots correspond to the three sub-themes of the Expo, with the blue robot representing "mobility", the green robot representing "sustainability" and the yellow robots represent "opportunity". The ghaf tree, Salama, will be "like a grandma" of the five pals, guiding and protecting them along their adventures.Dubai Expo 2020 will be held in Dubai from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021 with the theme of "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future". This will be the first session of the World Expo to be held in the Middle East.
