Pingtang Bridge, the World’s Highest Concrete Tower Bridge, Was Successfully Closed

At 10:18 am on September 26, the Pingtang Bridge, the world's highest concrete tower bridge, was successfully closed with the last bucket of concrete placing, and became a new member of the collection of bridges in Guizhou.The Pingtang Bridge is located on the K32-K35 section of the Pingtang-Luodian Expressway, crossing a canyon over the Caodu River and connecting Yazhou Town and Tongzhou Town of Pingtang County. The bridge has a total length of 2,135 meters, a deck width of 30.2 meters and a design speed of 80 km/h. The cable towers of the bridge are of a reinforced concrete hollow thin-walled structure and in a diamond-shaped space tower design. Among them, Pier No.15 is located on the bank of Pingtang, with a tower height of 320 meters; Pier No.16 is the middle tower, with a height of 332 meters equivalent to 110 stories and being the tallest concrete bridge tower in the world; Pier No.17 is located on the bank of Luodian, with a tower height of 298 meters.
